✨ The One Who Got Away – KL Shannon| Full Review✨

Rated: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am not exaggerating when I say I DEVOURED this book — I finished it in just over four hours straight! Usually, I’m strictly a dark‑romance reader and rarely reach for rom‑com style stories… but skipping this one would have been such a mistake.

This story hit every single note perfectly: it was warm, genuinely funny, and deeply emotional — I found myself laughing out loud one moment and wiping a little tear away the next. I honestly loved almost everything about it.

We follow Hannah, a 28‑year‑old songwriter who travels to the beautiful Virgin Islands to work alongside none other than her teenage celebrity crush — famous country music star Rory Dunnan. What starts as a professional collaboration quickly grows into something far deeper and more meaningful. You get to live right alongside them through every high and happy moment, as well as every struggle, misunderstanding, and hardship they face along the way.

The pacing is brilliant and the story is crafted so well that you just have to keep turning pages to see what happens next. At its heart, it beautifully illustrates that timeless idea: if two people are truly meant to be together, life and time will eventually bring them back to each other — and the ending? Absolute chef’s kiss, exactly the kind of satisfying payoff you hope for.

The only reason this isn’t a full 5‑star read is that I felt I could have used a little more detail and backstory about Hannah herself — her history and life before this journey. A bit more depth there would have made her feel even more fully rounded.

I’ve learned this is the start of a series, and I am absolutely ready to return to St Croix and visit these characters again — this sweet, heartfelt story completely won me over and changed my usual reading habits for the better!

Have you read this? Let me know!

Love&Pages,

J💛
