✨ Introduction
I have always wanted to read a piece by M A Comley; I’ve heard she writes such reliable, gripping stories and Watching Over Me was exactly what I hoped for – and more. It pulled me in from page one and honestly, I hardly put it down. Here is exactly what I thought.
💭 MY THOUGHTS
✅ Fast paced & totally addictive
This moved at such a great speed – there were no slow bits, no dragging parts, every chapter pushed the story forward and I was desperate to know what came next. It’s the kind of book you intend to read a few chapters of, then suddenly realise you’ve read half the book in one go!
✅ Keeps you guessing – zero spoilers given away!
I have to say this is one of the best things about it – you really have NO idea what is coming. There is absolutely no indication or early hints that give the game away. I had so many moments going “WTF?!” 🤯 – things happened I never expected, twists came out of nowhere and every time I thought I’d worked it out, something changed everything again.
✅ The feeling was SO real!
You truly felt every single emotion Amy went through. The fear, the paranoia, the doubt, the confusion – it was written so well I actually got goosebumps at points, it felt that intense and that real. I felt like I was right there with her experiencing it all.
✅ That quote… 🥹
There was one line that stuck with me more than anything else, and it resonated so deeply I had to highlight it:
“There was something about coming somewhere and having people know what you liked. Even in a big, faceless city like London, it was possible to carve out a small niche that felt like home.”
This hit home so hard for me. I have a local coffee shop I visit regularly, and the staff know my order before I even reach the counter. It is exactly that feeling — finding your little safe spot, your people, your familiarity in a busy world. Reading this felt like the author had peeked straight into my own life and feelings, I loved that it was included here.
✅ Ending was perfect
Sometimes thrillers let you down at the very end, but not this one. It was satisfying, everything made sense, all threads tied together and I closed the book feeling completely happy with how it finished.
⚠️ THINGS TO NOTE
This deals heavily with themes of being watched, stalking, paranoia and threat. It is written sensitively, but you do feel the tension and fear strongly, so bear that in mind if you prefer lighter reads or find those subjects difficult.
🎯 WHO IS THIS FOR?
✅ Fans of M A Comley’s style – you will love it
✅ Anyone who wants a proper page‑turner you can’t predict
✅ Readers who like to feel fully inside the character’s head and emotions
✅ If you love thrillers that give you chills but wrap everything up neatly
❌ Not for you if you want slow, detailed build‑up or very heavy police procedure focus
📌 FINAL VERDICT
⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5
Fast, tense, mysterious and emotional. It kept me guessing until the final pages, gave me chills, made me connect deeply with the words, and left me fully satisfied. Another brilliant read from this author, and I already can’t wait for the next one.
Let me know if you’ve read this and what your thoughts are!
