📚 MAY READING WRAP‑UP | 3 BOOKS FINISHED
✨ INTRODUCTION
Another month done and dusted ✅ and I managed to finish 3 books this time round – such a brilliant mix: twisty crime thriller, warm heartfelt romance, and one of the most unique, chilling thrillers I have ever read. I had favourites, books that made me smile, books that gave me chills and one single line I haven’t stopped thinking about since I turned the page. No bad reads at all this month, absolute win all round 📚 Here is every detail.
📗 BOOK 1: Ask For Andrea – Noelle W. Ihli
Genre: Thriller | Mystery | Supernatural / Psychological
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
✅ Quick overview:
“If you feel unsafe, if you need help… just ask for Andrea.” 🛑
Three women: Meghan, Brecia, Skye. All murdered by the same man — charming, seemingly perfect, hides dark secrets. They are gone… but not gone. They stay, they find each other, and they watch. They cannot speak, cannot touch, can only nudge things, flicker lights, move shadows… but they are determined to stop him hurting anyone else. A powerful idea: the safety code we use in real life, turned into a story about justice, fighting back, and voices that won’t be silenced.
💭 MY THOUGHTS:
This was unlike anything I have ever read 🤯 completely unique idea, I was hooked instantly.
It switches between each of the three girls, you see everything from their side, you feel every fear, every shock, every bit of confusion and pain. It is chilling, spooky, tense, and honestly quite heartbreaking — knowing they are there, watching, wanting to warn people, but almost powerless 🥶
The killer is terrifying because he seems normal, friendly, nice… and that is the scariest part of all. It made me think so much about safety, trust, how easy it is to hide who you really are, and what we do to protect each other.
I loved that even after everything, they found strength in each other. It isn’t scary just for the sake of it — it’s about justice, about being heard, and that you never really disappear. I didn’t guess how it would wrap up, it built perfectly, and the ending felt right and powerful. Definitely stays in your head long after you finish. Clever, original, and absolutely unforgettable.
📙 BOOK 2: The Henna Wars – Adiba Jaigirdar
Genre: Young Adult | Romance | Contemporary | LGBTQ+
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
✅ Quick overview:
Set in Dublin. Nishat & Flávia, once friends, now rivals. School competition means both run henna businesses, and things get messy, funny, dramatic and romantic. Explores heritage, identity, culture, belonging and falling for the person you least expect 🥰
💭 MY THOUGHTS:
Warm, bright, beautiful and full of heart ✨ I loved every page. The rivalry was so fun, I was cheering both of them on! But what I loved most was how honestly it talks about growing up between two cultures, figuring out who you are, and being brave enough to be yourself. Soft, emotional, enemies‑to‑lovers done perfectly, made me smile and feel everything. Perfect read.
📘 BOOK 3: Watching Over Me – M A Comley
Genre: Crime Thriller / Suspense
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
✅ Quick overview:
Follows Amy, who starts feeling certain she’s being watched. What starts as unease turns dangerous, and everything links back to secrets buried years ago. Fast, tense, no mercy 🕵️♀️
💭 MY THOUGHTS:
Classic M A Comley at her absolute best — I literally could not put it down! 🤩 The best part? ZERO clues, nothing given away, not even a tiny hint about where it was going or who was behind it. I guessed wrong every single time, shouted “WHAT?!” out loud so many times, got actual goosebumps, felt every bit of fear and confusion Amy went through. Ending was perfect, everything explained, no loose ends, completely satisfying.
